Hello everyone!
To err is human. Try to forgive. You know that it is useless to push buttons on a keyboard feeling sad or angry. How would they know if they were wrong? Write a letter, two letters ... to the writers of "House M.D." But do not fret. it won't help!
Why do we all so desperately need an external enemy? Does it help us unite, and feel like we are a part of something important, feel safe...?
House as a character is always offensive, he is full of it! This character insults women, men, elderly people, children, healthy & sick, Afro-Americans, Asians, the blind, the deaf, the handicapped, the mentally disabled, and even oncological patients near death. Millions of people may feel abused!
But, people there, you watch it, and you like it!
If you feel insulted only when the deaf are mistreated then you are a worshipper of double morals.
One more idea. Let us suppose that the writers on receiving millions of irate letters from all the listed above "sufferers" rewrote the script. House is an embodiment of politeness and courtesy...Would you still watch that?

Correction: Strike out HEARING and replace it with: DEAFNESS or lack of Hearing Sensory don't make them any less informed than any HEARING PEOPLE WITH INCREDIBLY POOR LISTENING SKILLS.

One more thing, cochlear implants are in the experimental stages, the doctors and manufacturers of cochlear implants should pay Deaf Volunteers and keep them on a lifelong payroll, living in style, along with IRA, full dental insurances, house insurances, life insurances, health insurances, beneficiaries insurances and traveling expenses, too. Not the other way around. Believe me, doctors and manufacturers will end up with a long waiting list. A lot of Deaf people will volunteer under these circumstances because the economics have for centuries been designed by HEARING ECONOMIC ENGINEERS who only thought of HEARING PEOPLE including HEARING HANDICAPPED/HEARING MENTALLY CHALLENGED, too, while mindlessly, carelessly, thoughtlessly, apathetically, audistically excluding DEAF PEOPLE from the drawing plans. I'm not being negative nor am I angry. I'm realistic just like that HOUSE character. A hardass who don't mince words. And none of Audists can prove me wrong. Don't argue with me or at me. I listen to facts because I got better things to do than waste time "listening" to arguements (and reading them) directly from thin air. Thin air means people's opinions that are theories and opinions and theories that has never been proven and used for arguements come from airheads. I'm not talking about "blondes". I'm talking about HEARING PEOPLE and DEAF PEOPLE/HARD OF HEARING PEOPLE WHO BELIEVES EVERYTHING HEARING PEOPLE TELLS THEM WITHOUT VERIFYING FIRST. AIRHEADS!!!!!! Get real! Deaf a culture? Hell yeah! Deaf people are real. They exist. They got a language. They are intelligent beings. They are human beings. They are not a medical case designed to be experiemented upon like they are fated to end up experimental specimens just because they can't HEAR. HEARING don't make them any less informed than any HEARING PEOPLE WITH INCREDIBLY POOR LISTENING SKILLS. Yes, Deaf is a culture and that is a fact. Period. End of discussion. A disability? Being Black was a disability. Being Female was a disability. Remember???? Or have they all forgotten about that, too???? They must have because they've proved themselves to be Audists themselves. Bigoted and racist just like Slave Owners and Husbands a hundred years ago and beyond. Looks like a lot of them, Blacks and Women, too, haven't learned their History lesson. MMMmmmm.......

DEAF PEOPLE ARE NOT IDIOTS NOR MORONS NOR ARE THEY UNREASONABLE STUBBORN MULES!!! They are intelligent. Their intelligence is not disabled. Hearing people cannot get that fact into their superiority audistic thick skull that Deaf people knows more and BETTER and are knowledgeable on the subject of DEAFNESS THAN HEARING PEOPLE, INCLUDING HEARING LAWYERS AND HEARING DOCTORS, TOO!!!! Deaf people don't like being MANHANDLED much the same way HEARING PEOPLE, HEARING DOCTORS AND HEARING LAWYERS don't like being MANHANDLED either because DEAF PEOPLE'S BRAIN, INTELLIGENCE, FEELINGS, MORALS, COGNIZANCE, CONCEPTUALITY, ETC ARE EQUIVALENT TO NORMAL HEARING PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT RETARDED, MENTALLY ILL, UNDERDEVELOPED, COGNIZANT-DISABLED, INCOMPETENTS AND BRAIN DAMAGED.

AAAHHH! What the hell!!! Damn! I can't believe the TV People had the gall to do the 'HOUSE DIVIDED" for the HOUSE show, violating Deaf person's Right by overriding and having him implanted just like that is immoral. All the audistic and political bickering back and forth about deafness being a disability or a culture is CRAP! Hogwash!!!! Realistically.....millions of Deaf people cannot afford implants. They cannot afford the upkeeps either. They don't have the luxury of money to buy all the gas required back and forth to hospitals and doctors and speech/hearing therapies involved. Realistically...millions of Deaf People know based on Deaf History how doctors abused Deaf Rights for centuries. Deaf People have every Right to resist any authority that don't know jack about Deafness's Right to a life with dignity, honor, respect and without physical and mental pain and horrors involved. Realistically....Deaf People knows cochlear implants are unsafe. Think tasers/stun guns. Cops make mistakes, they taser Deaf people by mistake. What happens if this Deaf is implanted? a Fried head? Or did it explode? What about those pads paramedics uses to revive a hear that stops beating? What happens if this Deaf is implanted and his/her heart stops and the paramedic applies the two pads to revive the heart, what happens to the head with the implant inside it? Realistically....cochlear implants are not always compatible and can cause excruciating headaches, have to go spend more money on gas or borrow money, getting deeper into debt, to buy air fare to get to a hospital and back, too. Realistically....cochlear implants are still in the experimental stages and million of Deaf people don't come from rich families or well to do families, it's realistic to accept the status of Deafness as is and live with the Deafness and be happy with it instead of feeling negative towards being stuck with deafness the audistic way. It's not culture. It's not politics. It's economics and living a good life without negativeness and without audism. HOUSE is a perfect example of flagrant, inhiumane, unethical audism practices in full force. Deaf will be happy to be cured but they have a Right to know the risks involved and they have a Right to say NO. Cochlear Implants is NOT A CURE. There are plenty of implanted who still have to read lips and plenty who quit wearing the device to turn on the implant because of the unending nauseaous delibitating vertigoes. It is not a cure. Being cured means the ability to hear without reading lips 100%.

I think It was a good show, I am part of an ASL class and reading deaf again as an assignment. The show points out how most hearing people and doctors react to the deaf community. I mean look at a deaf community event and tell me how often do you see a free hearing test truck there. The show is a little distasteful but it shows hard reality that we overlook. Now the show did not have to bring out the deaf and ignorance of people, but it has and now we have to discuss some things. Not to say the show is right in that episode or was it what some people think. In the end there was a decision the mother made who is really to say right and wrong. Personally I believe that it gives a chance for the deaf community to embark on some ideas to share its own ideas and educate the people about them.
They do not have too, but its something worth wild to explore. At this present time me and my class are looking for ways to assist and learn from the deaf community....

Hey Amy, I'm throwing in my two cents... I was upset with the show, but then after thinking about it, I have to admit that House does not discriminate.. he treats all patients badly, he does procedures that are invasive and life threatening on everyone.... what bothered me the most, was the mom's decision at the end to force her son to get the CI after all was said and done... again, this is a which is valid considering the majority of parents that continue to grieve for what they see as a loss rather than embrace their "deaf" child as having a gift.

I'm an avid HOUSE fan... I expected to see House do something arogant toward the deaf kid, but to have Foreman join in and only give the slightest aknowledgement toward "13's" reply that the Deaf have their own culture, and Language wasn't acceptable.

Fighting the system might be like trying to hold the ocean in your hands, but with enough of us we sure can make a dent. Who do I contact if I want to express my feelings to Fox, and the House writters?

Hi Amy!

I finally watched the show just the other day, (Thank you, DVR!) and it did bother me for a few things afterward.

But now that I think about it, given a lot of thoughts since.. I realized that nothing should NOT bother us because first, this is just purely entertainment, nothing is real.

I must admit that hearing or rather seeing "C.I. is a curable" is very annoying because it is NOT curable. However again, it is just entertainment.

Like my favorite show "Grey's Anatomy", they made up a lot of medical stuff such as cured a few people with type of diseases, Jes said it did not happen in real life. Such as some kind of diseases how they treat patients on the show, Jes said it did not happen the way it is supposed in real life.

So, many things on the show that did NOT happen in real life which means, it's common sense where people should be aware that anything happened on House does not happen in real life as well.

I think the whole situation will be a different story if it's based on a true story and they add to make it more interesting that is then given a false advertising. It's just how I look at.

I have a big concern is that every time a show that includes deaf characters, we made a big deal about it, pointing out their flaws and such. But we have to sit back and realize that every show has their own flaws so what we can do is at least to appreciate by having deaf actor(s) in shows/movies. That's a big thing for Deaf community, IMO.

Last thing I want for networks is to see people getting upset over this, they'd say.. ok better off not including deaf characters from now on because they can never get it right.

I never liked "House, M.D." anyways. :-P

Such as some kind of diseases how they treat patients on the show, Jes said it did not happen the way it is supposed in real life.

So, many things on the show that did NOT happen in real life which means, it’s common sense where people should be aware that anything happened on House does not happen in real life as well.

I think the whole situation will be a different story if it’s based on a true story and they add to make it more interesting that is then given a false advertising. It’s just how I look at.

I have a big concern is that every time a show that includes deaf characters, we made a big deal about it, pointing out their flaws and such. But we have to sit back and realize that every show has their own flaws so what we can do is at least to appreciate by having deaf actor(s) in shows/movies. That’s a big thing for Deaf community, IMO.

Last thing I want for networks is to see people getting upset over this, they’d say.. ok better off not including deaf characters from now on because they can never get it right.

I never liked “House, M.D.” anyways.
